Automatic Backups - Your Safety Net

Bad things happen to good websites. A hack, a bad update, an accidental deletion, a server failure - any of these can take your site offline or wipe out content you cannot easily recreate. Automatic backups mean recovery is always possible, and always fast.

What Can Go Wrong - and How Backups Save You

Website Hack

Malware injected, files modified, or content replaced. Without a clean backup, recovery means manually rebuilding or paying for emergency forensic work.

Bad Plugin Update

An update introduces a conflict that breaks your site. Without the backup taken before the update, you are debugging a broken site with no fallback.

Accidental Deletion

A page, image folder, or database table deleted - by you, a staff member, or a plugin cleanup tool running too aggressively.

Server Failure

Hardware failure, hosting provider outage, or data center incident. If your only copy of the site is on the affected server, it may be permanently lost.

Hosting Migration Error

A file transfer that corrupts the database, or an import that overwrites content. Pre-migration backups allow instant rollback to a known-good state.

Third-Party Integration Failure

A connected service or plugin that goes rogue and modifies or deletes content during its operation. Having yesterday's clean snapshot restores order instantly.

What Gets Backed Up

A complete backup is more than just files. Your website is composed of two distinct parts that must both be backed up for a full recovery:

  • All website files - PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, templates, and theme files
  • The full database - posts, pages, settings, user accounts, plugin configurations
  • Uploaded media - images, documents, videos in the media library
  • Configuration files - .htaccess, wp-config.php, and similar

A backup that only captures files but not the database is incomplete. A database backup without files is equally insufficient. We back up everything, together, so restoration is a single operation.

Off-Site Storage - Why It Matters

A backup stored on the same server as your live site is better than no backup - but it does not protect you against server-level failures, hardware problems, or data center incidents that take the entire server offline.

Every backup we create is copied to off-site storage automatically. Your backups exist independently of your live server, so a server problem never means a backup problem.

Pre-Update Backups

In addition to daily scheduled backups, we take an on-demand backup immediately before applying any software updates. This creates a precise rollback point that is no more than minutes old at the time of any update-related issue.

Restoration - Fast When You Need It

A backup is only valuable if it can be restored quickly and reliably. Our restoration process is tested and documented - not improvised under pressure when something goes wrong.

When a restore is needed, we identify the correct restore point (the most recent clean backup), initiate restoration, and verify site functionality post-restore. For most sites, a full restoration takes less than four hours from the moment we begin. For emergency situations - active hack, site completely down - we treat restores as the highest priority.

You do not need to do anything. Call or email us, tell us what happened, and we handle the restoration from there.

Frequently Asked Questions

Some hosting companies include backup services, but the terms vary significantly - and the limitations often surface at the worst moment. Common issues: backups stored on the same server (lost if the server fails), short retention windows (7 days or less), restoration fees charged per restore, or backups excluded from entry-level plans. Our backup system is explicitly designed to avoid all of these gaps. Backups are off-site, retained for 30 days, and restoration is included in the managed hosting plan without additional charges.
Yes. Restores are not limited to catastrophic scenarios. If you accidentally deleted a page, overwrote content you wanted to keep, or need to retrieve a specific image from three weeks ago, we can restore the relevant data from the appropriate backup point. Depending on what is needed, we may restore a single page or file rather than the full site - which preserves any changes made since the accidental deletion.
